Out and about: activities all year long

The Hong Kong Gardening Society offers a wealth of activities throughout the year. Regular outings take members to spectacular private and public gardens, experimental farms, wholesale markets and specialist garden centres — not only in Hong Kong but across the border in Shenzhen, Foshan and Guangzhou. Also on offer are horticultural trips to neighbouring countries such as Thailand and Nepal.

Guest speakers advise members on subjects such as soil improvement, orchids, ferns, planning a small garden, terrariums and more. Another goal of the society is to help members procure seeds, cuttings, bedding plants, fertilizer and tools.

See a list of some of the society's recent activities here.

A monthly newsletter updates members on forthcoming activities, carries reports on recent visits, and contains a wealth of information on subjects ranging from local trees to herbs, spices and orchids. It includes a seasonal guide to cutting, pruning, propagating and caring for plants of all kinds.

Members enjoy valuable discounts on plants, outdoor furniture, books and restaurants at a variety of outlets.
